Spreading Christmas Cheer

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I am excited! I love everything about this time of year, the snow (Welcome to Minnesota!), the tree, the trimmings, baking, family, and yes, presents! I thought I would do a series of small posts today and tomorrow to spread some of the Christmas cheer that I feel. For this post, each number in the list has a link to a web page with some inspiration.

  1. According to one of my favorite silly movies, Elf, "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."

  2. Of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without the tree. But here's some things that say Christmas tree in a non-traditional way.

  3. I also love baking! Nothing smells as good as gingerbread men baking! I love the smell so much, I even have a gingerbread scented reed diffuser in my office.

  4. I also love the snow. There is nothing more beautiful than a snowy Christmas Eve.

  5. And finally, it wouldn't be Christmas without family! Nothing is more heartwarming that watching little ones open their stockings Christmas morning, their eyes filled with wonder.

Hope you enjoy the links!

Long Time...No Blog!

Haven't posted for awhile. I have been pretty busy these last several days. I am starting to study for my bar exam now, so that takes up quite a bit of time. On the plus side, I managed to get several new items posted in my Etsy Store. I finally finished up a needle felting project. This picture is 2-D but I thought it turned out super cute! (I tried loading pictures, but blogger is not cooperating right now.) The project is called Felted Baa Baa Black Sheep Picture in my Etsy store. I will attempt to get pictures in this post later. Don't be afraid to try new things! This was a first attempt at needle felting for me and it turned out great!!

A Year of Readers

I am happy to announce that Hindrance is collaborating with A Year of Readers to donate gifts for participants. What is a Year of Readers, you ask? It's a great initiative to get readers to be sponsored for their reading. All the proceeds go to book and literacy related Charities. It's creator says: " In 2009 I want to spread my love of reading throughout the world. The Year of Readers aims to bring people who enjoy books together to have fun bringing literature into the lives of others. From the 1st January 2009 until 31st of December 2009 I will be running an international read-a-thon that will be open to anyone who reads. It doesn’t matter what kind of books you read or how many you read as long as you’ve got your nose in a book in 2009 you can join in."

Visit their website and join in the Read-a-Thon! Or contact the great people over there to find other ways to get involved.

First Giveaway!!!

Okay, so I've seen some fun giveaways on blogs and decided to do one of my very own. For this first giveaway, I am giving away something that I made. I am giving away this lined zipper makeup bag.

It has a fun cotton blend orange and white striped fabric. The inside is solid orange cotton and the zipper is white.

Not only am I giving away the bag, but the winner will receive the bag stuffed with little surprise goodies. The surprise items may include jewelry, beads, vintage fabric, pictures, and any number of things from my craft supplies or store items. (Some of the goodies will be Holiday themed.) What do I have to do to enter and win this fabulous bag of goodies you might ask? Well, here's the details: starting today and until 5 pm on December 9, 2008, visit my Etsy store. Pick out your favorite item from my store and leave a comment telling me what it is here on the blog. I will draw from those who have posted comments and announce who the winner is on December 10th. That leaves you one week to enter. Don't delay!
