Bounty from the Garden

Just wanted to share with you some flowers I cut from my garden.

Under $25 Makeover: Deck Details and Linky Party

I'm super excited about the details for this week's makeover. So many cute details. Before I get to them, I want to remind you that if you join the linky party at the bottom of this post you get entered into a drawing to win this prize package. You can see the full makeover results here.

Here's the space between the dining and sitting areas.


The art was previously in my kitchen. I sprayed the whole thing with clear matte spray paint, hoping that it would weatherproof it somewhat. It seems to be working so far.

This cute little tea light holder hangs above the table.


Speaking of the table, I had to show you the front of it with it's cute little drawer.


What's a deck without some flowers? I have hanging pails with red geraniums in them.


Here's a closeup of that cushion cover I'm so proud of:


There has a to be a chair for my little girl!


Finally, here's some more pics showing the lights around the deck itself.



*sigh* I feel like it's outdoor living perfection!

Under $25 Makeover: Deck After

Whew! I had to wait for the light to cooperate to take pictures, but it's well worth it, I assure you! (I forgot that there are only a few set hours in the morning and evening where the deck isn't partially sun drenched.) See the before of the deck here.

I'll get to some of the details later, but first I have to show you this pic because I love it so much:


Yea for twinkle lights! :) I separated the deck into two distinct areas, sitting and dining. Here's the sitting area:



Remember that love seat with the 70's flowered cushions:


I got this love seat for free from my mom. Someone gave it to her, she found one at auction she liked better, and Tada! Free couch. Because the cushions were so big (the back is one ginormous piece) I decided that drop cloth was the most economical choice for fabric. I got a huge one (can't remember exact dimensions) for only $15.00. It covered the couch and a couple of other cushions and I still have a lot left over for other projects. The rug was one I had in my kitchen. It's getting old. It's not an outdoor one, but it's cotton so it dries quickly.

Then there were the two metal chair frames that I picked up for free back in college. I've toted them around with me for years, but they've never looked so good:



The turquoise fabric is outdoor canvas from Joanne Fabrics. The red is an outdoor fabric from Fabric Warehouse.

Then there was the lovely wicker chair I picked up, also for free (I love curb shopping!) It had a plain foam cushion with it, I just covered it.


I got the top fabric from Joanne's again and the side of the cushion cover is more drop cloth. I thought that top fabric was just perfect because it carried all the colors together in one pattern. I also made a lumbar pillow from it as seen in the love seat picture. Eventually, I think I need to spray paint the chair base, but for now the chippy paint sings to my junker soul.

What about those cute little tables? You've already seen the first one here. The other one got a full spray painting with Rust-Oleum Painters Touch in "Lagoon." I love this color so much!



Here's the dining area:


The table is a vintage red and white enamel table with leaves that pull out from underneath each side. This was another gift from my Mom (I'm so lucky!)

The chairs needed pad covers, so I used the leftover turquoise fabric.

Under $25 Makeover: Deck Before

I'm trying to get a head start on tomorrow's makeover reveal by posting the "before" pics today. I did a lot of projects for this makeover unlike some of my more subtle makeovers. I'm going to start with individual pieces of furniture.

Under $25 Makeover: Side Table

It's the final week of the Under $25 Makeovers! This week is a little bit of a cheat. I actually spent more than $25 on the final space, which is my deck. But there was quite a bit of purchasing involved and a lot of bang for the extra bucks!

For my project this week, I am sharing a side table I redid. I actually didn't do that much to it, but I think it make quite a difference.

Here's the before.


I decided to add my two main colors, red and turquoise, to the white (I'm bringing the colors from my kitchen out onto the deck since all the kitchen windows face out to the deck.)

Here's my taping job.


A little spray paint in each square (on all four sides) and this is the result.




I think it adds just a little extra punch. The best part? It was free. I already had the table and the paint!
