Under $25 Makeover: Side Table

It's the final week of the Under $25 Makeovers! This week is a little bit of a cheat. I actually spent more than $25 on the final space, which is my deck. But there was quite a bit of purchasing involved and a lot of bang for the extra bucks!

For my project this week, I am sharing a side table I redid. I actually didn't do that much to it, but I think it make quite a difference.

Here's the before.

I decided to add my two main colors, red and turquoise, to the white (I'm bringing the colors from my kitchen out onto the deck since all the kitchen windows face out to the deck.)

Here's my taping job.

A little spray paint in each square (on all four sides) and this is the result.

I think it adds just a little extra punch. The best part? It was free. I already had the table and the paint!

Check out the deck transformation on Wednesday!

My take on bright and modern

Okay, so a couple of days ago I promised to do a post with my small take on bright and modern. Let me just reiterate that this is really a small project but one that can have big impact in the right space. I had two brass candlesticks that were shaped like deer. One was a buck and one a doe. They were an ugly brass. Did I take a before pic? Of course not. But you'll have to imagine with me. Everyone knows what ugly brass lamps (which are apparently now in again) look like. These were exactly like that. I took a great color of some trusty spray paint (after a layer of spray primer) and transformed them into this:

Didn't they turn out fabulous? Originally I was just going to paint these antique white but after I got the primer on, I was looking at my collection of spray paint when this bright beauty popped out at me. I thought, "why not?" If it looks weird I can always repaint it white. I'm so glad I painted them yellow. If you're like me and not totally sold on bright and modern, this is a great way to take something small and try it out for awhile. If it doesn't turn out you can always repaint it white!

Ugly to Cute...It just needs some spray paint.

I love what a can of black spray paint can do. It can take something that looks like this:

To this:

Isn't that cute! I found it at the thrift store for a steal and deer are so in right now. I love quick easy projects like this.
